Ally Kendrick Clew

About the Artist

Grown in rural Somerset and long-settled in Derbyshire, Ally Kendrick Clew’s sculpture is inspired by her sense of belonging in the rural landscape. Alternately concerned about the destruction of ancient habitats, and uplifted by the environment’s ability to recover and adapt, Ally’s sculptures celebrate the landscape, its history, meaning and seasons. She is a local sculptor heavily influenced by the Derbyshire landscape, working in reclaimed copper and timber to create individual pieces inspired by walks around Derbyshire. A deep fascination with the surrounding landscape shapes this practice, along with an interest in the role that trees play as landmarks and protectors of shared history.
