Maria Bolton, a landscape artist living and working in Derbyshire, has a particular interest in woodland. Inspired by the changing light, colour, form, and seasons of the Amber Valley, her paintings combine heightened colour, texture, and gestural realism to capture small, transitory moments of arresting wonder. These moments will feel familiar to anyone who lives in our beautiful valley. She exhibits at the Old Lock Up Gallery in Cromford and at galleries around the country, including recent exhibitions in Dorset and an Open Exhibition at The Lake Gallery, West Kirby, where she was one of two prize winners in 2025.
