Nell Swift is a weaver of place and memory. She uses handlooms and natural fibres to capture the movement and changing colour of the sea in the fluid form of fabric. She weaves places that move her, capturing the colour and texture of land and sea, a snapshot memory triggered by sounds, smells and dreams. Her textiles are her memories, to be touched and shared, conjured in thread, a connection through time and space. She transforms memories, the seascapes of the North Yorkshire Coast and landscapes of the Peak District into scarves, blankets, cushions, wall hangings and rugs full of colour and texture.
